ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Harding softball team won the first game of the doubleheader 8-7 in eight innings but dropped the second game 11-1 in six innings in Great American Conference action on Saturday. Each team won two games in the series after the team split on Friday.
 
Both teams move to 9-5 overall and 2-2 in the GAC.
 
Game One Key Innings (Harding 8, Henderson State 7 – 8 Innings)

-         Henderson State got things started in the bottom of the second scoring two runs on four hits.

-         The Reddies made it a 5-0 game after scoring three runs on three hits in the second inning led by Keirsten Seahorn who hit a three-run homer to left center.

-         Henderson State tacked on another run in the fourth after an Alexia Lopez single.

-         Harding got on the board in the top of the fifth when it scored five runs on three hits. Henderson State walked in two runs in the inning and Courtney Derrick singled in a run and Mackenzie Jones got an RBI on a fielder's choice.

-         The Reddies took a 7-5 lead in the bottom of the fifth after scoring a run off an Ashlyn White sacrifice fly.

-         Harding tied the game in the top of the seventh when Brookelynn Moon hit a double to center field that scored Kimmy Hendricks and Peyton Mills.

-         Henderson State went three up three down in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.

-         Harding scored the go ahead run in the top of the eighth after Courtney Derrick reached on an error by the catcher that scored Morgan Acosta from first.

-         Henderson State had the tying run at second but Harding forced to pop ups to the short stop to get the win.

 
Game One Key Statistics

-         Courtney Derrick went 4-for-5 in the game with an RBI and a run scored for Harding. Brookelynn Moon went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored and Kinsey Beck went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

-         Kelly Beth Ernest picked up the win for Harding pitching 3 2/3 innings of relief. She improves to 3-1 on the season and gave up three hits and no runs.

-         Ashlyn White got the loss for Henderson State. Michelle Sorensen started the game for Henderson State and pitched six innings, giving up eight hits and four earned runs.

 
Game Two Key Innings (Henderson State 11, Harding 1 – 6 innings)

-         Henderson State got on the board in the bottom of the first scoring two runs on a Keirsten Seahorn two-run homer.

-         The Reddies took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the third off of three hits led by Ashlyn White who hit a two-run homer.

-         Henderson State tacked on another run in the fourth and two runs in the sixth to make it a 7-0 game.

-         Harding got on the board in the top of the sixth when Morgan Acosta singled in Brookelynn Moon from second.

-         In the bottom of the sixth, Henderson State's Ashlyn White hit a grand slam to end the game.

 
Game Two Key Statistics

-         Harding had seven hits in the game led by Brookelynn Moon who had two.

-         Ashlyn White went 2-for-2 for Henderson State with six RBIs and three runs scored.

-         Ashley Smith got the loss for Harding as she falls to 3-3 on the season. She pitched four innings and walked one and had a strikeout.

-         Madison Calvert got the win for Henderson State improving her record to 3-2. She threw the complete game, gave up seven hits and one earned run.

-         Harding will continue Great American Conference action next weekend when it hosts Ouachita in a four-game series starting Friday at 1 p.m., at the Harding Softball Field.
