Harding Men's Track Posts Four Provisionals and One School Record at Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – With the NCAA Division II track and field national meet looming at the end of May, Harding men's track and field continues to prepare for that meet and try to qualify more athletes.

On Friday, Harding ran at the Arkansas Twilight meet and had four NCAA provisional marks and broke one school record.

The NCAA provisional marks came in the 400-meter hurdles and in the pole vault. Freshman Fallou Gaye won the 400 hurdles in a school-record time of 51.96. Freshman Nikolasz Csokas placed second in an NCAA provisional 52.29. Gaye ranks seventh in Division II in the 400 hurdles with Csokas now 11th.

Junior Austin Parrish became the second Harding pole vaulter ever to clear 17 feet with a clearance of 5.20 meters (17 feet, 0.75 inches). He tied freshman Dorian Chaigneau, who is tied for the top spot in Division II with a clearance of 5.30 meters (17-04.50) at the Texas Relays. Parrish became just the eighth Division II pole vaulter to clear 5.20 meters.

Below is a summary of Harding's finishes in each event:
100 meters
Freshman Tad Kirby placed 10th in 10.75, and freshman Krishaun Watson placed 11th in 11.03.

200 meters
Freshman Tad Kirby placed fourth in a season-best 21.62 seconds. Kirby ran 21.63 at the Texas Relays.

800 meters
Freshman Thibault Waeles placed fourth in 1:51.98. Freshman Kendall Townsley ran a personal-best 1:59.73 and finished 13th. Freshman Wes Laughary placed 14th in 2:01.40.

1,500 meters
Freshman Jackson Pruim placed 23rd and ran a personal-best 4:02.71. Isaac Akers of Tulsa won in 3:42.75.

3,000 meters
Freshman Tom Valente placed second in 9:12.66. Jack Reed of Oklahoma Baptist won in 9:08.74.

110 hurdles
Freshman Dakarai Bush qualified for the finals with a time of 14.87 in the prelims. Freshman Zalen Robinson placed 13th in 17.22. Bush was fourth in the finals in 14.88. Ahmad Young of Louisiana Tech won in 14.21.

400 hurdles
Freshman Fallou Gaye won the event and broke his own school record at 51.96 seconds. His previous best was 51.99. Freshman Nikolasz Csokas also set a personal best at 52.29 seconds to place second. Both were NCAA provisional times.

3,000-meter steeplechase
Freshman Tyler Harrod placed third with a season-best time of 10:17.80. Maxamillian Wheeler of Oklahoma Baptist won in 9:45.81.

Discus
Freshman Spencer Helms placed fifth at 42.52 meters, and freshman Jaden Zerby placed sixth at 41.32 meters.

Hammer
Freshman Jaden Zerby placed sixth at 41.56 meters (136-4).

Javelin
Senior Will Clark won the event with a season-best throw of 54.50 meters (178-10).

Pole Vault
Junior Austin Parrish and freshman Dorian Chaigneau tied for second place. Both cleared an NCAA provisional height of 5.20 meters (17-0.75). It was a career best for Parrish.

Long Jump
Freshman Zalen Robinson placed fifth with a mark of 6.45 meters (21-2), and freshman Cedric Gable was sixth at 5.90 meters (19-4.25).
