Dakarai Bush Smashes HU 400-Meter Dash Record at Arkansas

SEARCY – Over the weekend, the Harding men's outdoor track and field team was in action at the John McDonnell Invitational and the ASU Red Wolf Open. Below are the highlights of Harding's athletes.

At the John McDonnell Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas:
  • Junior Dakarai Bush won the 400 meters in 46.00 seconds, an NCAA provisional time that broke his own school record of 46.60 set earlier this season … his time was the second-fastest in Division II this season, trailing only 45.87 by George Garcia of Lubbock Christian.
  • Sophomore Savian Bush ran an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 14.40 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles … he ranks 32nd in Division II.
  • Harding had two provisional qualifiers in the pole vault … freshman Vlad Malykhin placed third with a clearance of 5.30 meters or 17 feet, 4.50 inches … freshman Ben Ferris cleared 5.00 meters or 16 feet, 4.75 inches … Malykhin's season-best clearance of 17-5 ranks fifth in Division II … Ferris' clearance was a season best and moved him to 11th in Division II.
  • Freshman Yves Bilong landed a provisional mark of 14.74 meters or 48 feet, 4.50 inches in the triple jump … Bilong ranks 16th in Division II with a season-best mark of 15.10 meters or 49 feet, 6.50 inches.
  • Harding had four other top-five finishes … junior Tad Kirby was fourth in the 100 meters in 10.55 … freshman Noah Haileab was fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:38.08 … freshman Anton Kopytko was third in the long jump at 7.25 meters or 23 feet, 9.50 inches … freshman Casen Hammitt was fourth in the javelin at 54.70 meters or 179 feet, 5 inches.
At the ASU Red Wolf Open in Jonesboro, Arkansas:
  • Harding's 4x400-meter relay team of Davion Smith, Tad Kirby, Savian Bush and Dakarai Bush won in 3:20.11.
  • The 4x100-meter relay team of Krishaun Watson, Dakarai Bush, Davion Smith and Tad Kirby placed third in 41.86 seconds.
  • Harding had four top-three finishes in the running events … junior Tad Kirby placed third in the 100 meters in 10.87 seconds … junior Zach Reed placed second in the 800 meters in 1:54.77 … sophomore Savian Bush placed third in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.57 and third in the 400-meter hurdles in 56.57 seconds.
  • Harding had three top-three finishes in the field events … freshman Daniel Osoba was second in the triple jump with a mark of 13.70 meters or 44 feet, 11.50 inches … sophomore Seth West placed second in the discus with a mark of 42.74 meters or 140 feet, 3 inches … senior Jaden Zerby placed third in the javelin at 40.88 meters or 134 feet, 1 inch.
