Malykhin Sails Over 18 Feet at Nebraska Meet

LINCOLN, Neb. – Harding sophomore won the pole vault at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational over the weekend at an indoor meet hosted by the University of Nebraska with the third-best Division II pole vault clearance ever in Division II.

Malykhin, a two-time national champion, won with a season-best clearance of 5.51m (18-1).

Harding freshman Josphat Meli won the 5,000 meters in 14:00.91, a new track record. His NCAA provisional time has him ranked 12th in the event in Division II.

Sophomore Anton Kopytko placed eighth in the long jump at 7.11m (23-4), sophomore Daniel Osoba placed 14th in the triple jump at 13.59m (44-7), and junior Zalen Robinson placed ninth in the heptathlon with a PR of 4,658 points.

Harding had three women in competition at the meet. Sophomore Karyna Vehner placed ninth in the triple jump with a provisional mark of 11.71m (38-5). Vehner is 21st nationally in the triple jump. She was 17th in the pole vault, clearing 3.62m (11-10.50). Freshman Hanna Onufriieva was 16th in the triple jump at 11.05m (36-3) and senior Mariah Miller was 17th at 11.02m (36-2).
