MOUNT BERRY, Ga. — Harding's women's doubles team of senior Karli Roux and freshman Brooke Coffman survived a dramatic match-tiebreaker Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals of the ITA Cup, the NCAA Division II national individual championship.
Roux and Coffman, who entered the national tournament with a strong 4-1 record this fall, defeated Karola Suviste and Stina Larsson of Azusa Pacific with a score of 6-1, 3-6, 14-12. After easily taking the first set, the Lady Bison duo dropped the second before prevailing in the deciding tiebreak set, 14-12, to secure the victory.
The win sets up a major quarterfinal challenge for the Harding pair. Roux and Coffman will face the tournament's top-seeded team, Kristyna Hranacova and Katja Markus of Nova Southeastern, on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
