Harding Women's Golf Opens 2019 with Record Round

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – Harding women's golf played in its fifth Central Region Fall Preview in program history Tuesday at the Adams Pointe Golf Club, but never shot a score like the 308 it shot in Round 1. Not even close.

Harding's previous best round at the Preview was 330 in the second round of the 2018 tournament. The Lady Bisons are sixth of 19 teams and only six strokes off the leader Rogers State.

The 308 was the eighth-best round in program history and best since a 307 in the second round of the 2013 GAC Golf Championship.

Leading the charge for Harding was senior Bryle Alcorn, who tied her career-best round with a 2-over 74. She sits tied for third, two strokes off the leader Maddy Schintz of Minnesota State. Alcorn played the back 9 at 2 over, recording birdies on the 12th and 14th holes and finishing her round with another birdie at 18.

Harding freshman Kodie Winnings shot 4-over 76 in her first collegiate round and sits tied for 13th. She shot par on 15 of 18 holes and had a birdie on the par-4 16th hole.

Junior Kiera Smith shot 6-over 78. Sophomore Abbey Bryan and freshman Julie Fierro both shot 8-over 80.

The final round will be played Wednesday.
