Two Harding Women's Track Records Fall at UCM Invitational

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Harding women's indoor track team placed second of seven teams Friday at the UCM Invitational, hosted by the University of Central Missouri inside the Multipurpose Building. Harding totaled 101.25 points, trailing only host Central Missouri, who finished with 159 points. The other six teams in the event were all member of the NCAA Division II Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA).

In the meet, Harding broke two school records, had one NCAA provisional mark and claimed one event title.

Both school records came in the field events. Sophomore Sierra White broke her own school record and cleared 3.76 meters (12 feet, 4 inches) topping the NCAA provisional standard.

Junior Cooper Monn became the first Harding female with a weight throw over 50 feet, setting the new school record 50 feet, 11.50 inches (15.53 meters).

Harding's best highlight on the track came in the final event of the meet. Harding's quartet of Ellie Fantauzzo, Darcy Sanford, Madison Smith and Nieves Megias won the distance medley relay in 13 minutes, 13.34 seconds.

Other track highlights:
Freshman Briana Johnson placed third in both the 60 meters (7.86) and 200 meters (26.71) … junior Natalie Toney placed fourth in the 600-yard run in 1:30.11 … Freshman Kylie Phillips placed third in the 3,000 meters (11:22.47) just ahead of fourth-place teammate sophomore Molly Passmore (11:25.79) … Toney, Celia Stramrood, Kinga Szarzynska and Anne-Noelle Clerima placed third in the 4x400 relay in 4:01.09.

Other field event highlights:
Junior Brylan Williams placed second in the high jump, clearing 5-03.75 (1.62m) with senior Darcy Sanford third at 5-01.75 (1.57m) … Harding placed three in the top five in the shot put and in the weight throw … in the shot put Cara Mason was third (13.07m/42-10.75), Monn fourth (12.59m/41-03.75) and senior Liz Fouts fifth (12.50m/41-00.25) … in the weigh throw, it was Monn second, sophomore Kaylee Hausam third (14.90m/48-10.75) and Mason fourth (14.59m/47-10.50) … freshman Mariah Miller placed third in the triple jump (11.20m/36-09) with junior Jenna Akins fifth (10.61m/34-09.75).

Harding's next schedule meet is Jan. 29-30 at the Washburn Invitational in Topeka, Kansas.
