Harding's Women's Indoor Track and Field Team Makes Strong Start in 2024 at Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Competing for the first time in the new year, Harding had 10 members of the women's indoor track and field team in action Friday at the Randal Tyson Track on the campus of the University of Arkansas. The meet included several Division I teams and numerous professional competitors.

In the lone running event for the Lady Bisons, freshman Cassidy Graham placed 18th in the 1,000 meters, in 3:01.39, followed by sophomore Dinah Winders 20th in 3:02.65.

In the field events, freshman Ally Cheek matched her season-best mark of 1.60 meters (5-3) and placed 20th. Junior Emily Patterson was 25th, clearing 1.50 meters (4-11).

Freshman Taylor Hankins made her Harding debut in the pole vault and placed 12th, clearing 3.64 meters (11-11.25). With the vault, she moved into third place on Harding's career top performers list. Sophomore Karyna Vehner was 14th at 3.44 meters (11-3.50), and sophomore Cadence Sansom reached a PR and placed 16th at the same height. She is seventh on HU's top performers list in the pole vault.

In the throwing events, freshman Brylee Stewart was 27th in the weight throw. Senior Kaylee Hausam was Harding's top finisher in the shot put. She placed 17th with a mark of 11.43 meters (37-6). Freshman Carley Hall debuted and placed 19th at 11.13 meters (36-6.25). She is now 10th on HU's top performers list in the shot put. Stewart placed 29th at 10.12 meters (33-2.50).

Harding will send a much larger contingent to its next meet. The Lady Bisons will take part in the Vanderbilt Invitational on Jan. 19-20 in Nashville, Tennessee.
